Celebrating St Emilie – A Week of Activities

This year we are organising a week of celebrations to mark the feast month of our foundress, St Emilie de Vialar.

On Monday 31st May the St Joseph Sliema community – junior section, senior section, Sisters, staff and students – came together at 8am to listen to an online reflection by Fr Christopher Caruana.

At 11am, the junior section, senior section and Sisters in the Convent celebrated St Emilie by organing a Question and Answer session, live from the convent and streamed into each classroom.  The Sisters answered questions put by the girls in every year group, and even by members of staff.  This was a beautiful event that brought us all closer together.

Many thanks to Ms Abigail Pace for co-ordinating the event, Ms Sarah Vassallo and Ms Marvic Calleja Sciberras for organising logistics and Mr David Deguara, Mr Franco Camilleri and Mr Karsten Stafrace for seeing to the technical side of things.  We are so grateful to Sr Riches, Sr Albert, Sr Josephine and Meluna for welcoming us into the convent and sharing their calling with us.

During the celebration, the annual St Emilie de Vialar awards were announced too, and Ms Abigail presented Sr Riches with the bookmarks and note books prepared by the Senior 2s.

Later in the morning, Sr Riches visited the Senior 4 Art Option girls in the Art Room to thank them and Mr Stefan Spiteri for preparing the wonderful banners with St Emilie quotes.  They are setting the right atmosphere in Our Lady’s Yard for the community picnic days to follow!
