LUX Youth Seminar in Brussels

From the 15th till the 17th of April we were given the opportunity to attend the LUX Youth Seminar in Brussels. Throughout this seminar, we had lectures on various topics including art and how the EU works. We got to talk to Stephen Clark, the Director for Liaison Officer, Evelyn Regner the Vice President of the EU Parliament and Sabine Verheyen the Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education. We also got to meet some of the people behind some of the movies that were nominated for the award.

On the evening of the 16th April we attended the Lux audience awards in the Hemicycle and watch as the Lux prize was given to ‘The Teachers’ Lounge’ which was directed by Ilker Çatak. It was a privilege to learn and hear about their inspiration and thought processes whilst producing these touching films. During this trip we got to meet youths from all around the EU and interact with them. It was a very memorable 3 days and we are very grateful for this experience.

We would like to thank Ms Mireille Pace Ross and the European Parliament office for making this trip possible.
